It's already May, and I have inexplicably been neglecting my blog. Guilt has finally taken its toll, so here I am ready & willing to share my life with ya'll.
But first a recap on the last few months since I've neglected to post ANYTHING...
* At work we've been very busy getting ready for our 3 summer mission trips (1 to Mexico, 1 to Brazil and 1 to Papua New Guinea). Lots of paperwork, lots of phone calls, lots of packing & repacking of suitcases full of supplies. Packing is apparently not among my many talents.
* I'm continuing to be involved with a "small group" bible study every week. They have become wonderful friends and an excellent support system for me down here.
We not only study the word together, but spend as much time together as possible. Including a 90's themed prom for Valentines Day.
* In March I was able to visit the NTM Wayumi program in Jersey Shore, PA. It was a great refresher for me - to get another in-depth look at Tribal Missions from the perspective of the staff there (most of whom have lived in tribes in Venezuela) and a great reminder of why I'm doing what I'm doing!
In March I also had 2 friends (from my time in PNG) come to visit me for spring break. We were blessed with free tickets to Disney World, spent time at the beach, and exploring the Springs & State Parks in my neck of the woods.

* My Grandpa Schulze passed away in April. It was difficult to lose the patriarch of our family, but his funeral was truly a celebration of his life and the legacy of loyalty, love and service he has left behind.
Also in April I celebrated Easter with friends in Orlando. We had an Easter Orphan Brunch - for those of us who are without family during the holiday. We went to church together, had brunch, and finished off the day for a full-blown Easter Egg Hunt! The competition was fierce... I only found 4 eggs. It was pretty funny watching adults run around a yard and battling over Plastic eggs!
I'm leaving to head back to PNG in just under a month. We have solidified our team of 20. I will be on staff again, but this time in a much different capacity. I was disappointed to find out that I'm not going to be doing any teaching, but will be helping out in the kitchen and as an unofficial "nurse". Oh boy. I'm pretty much happy to be doing anything to be a part of this program - that's how strongly I feel about it - but God is taking me at my word and asking me to do things outside of my comfort zone with these responsibilities. He is teaching me to let go of my expectations and to be submissive. That seems to be a recurring theme in my life. I am definitely a work in progress. Still I am very excited about the summer! Not only do I get to go back to PNG (where half of my heart still resides), I get to spend a week in Belize with the Youth/College group from my home church in WI!!! I am honored to be a part of their team and very pumped to see them challenged with missions. It will be super fun to work alongside them and just be a part of their lives again!
Satan, the Hinderer, may build a barrier about us, but he can never roof us in, so that we cannot look up. ~ Hudson Taylor
